Land Rover Series 2a -88- 1962 *Restored*

We are delighted to present this desirable Series 2a in our favourite version: the short wheel base with cab and canvas hood. A true British icon renowned from adventurists exploring African territories and meanwhile also widely present in the countrylife.

This very early Series 2a, has been subject to en extensive restauration to original specifications, and has driven almost 500 km since. A professional mechanic restored the car with the goal to keep the Land Rover for himself. In this elaborate proces in which the chassis, body and every nut has been separated and newly rebuilt. The engine has been completely overhauled also the complete driveline, transmission, axles, differentials and brakesystem has been revised. Also a new wire harness has been fitted. All the right parts were galvanised again. The body is for a Land Rover of this age exceptionally straight while the original factory wielding points are still visible, exceptionnal! Painted in its original colorscheme: marine blue with limestone.

On the outside, the vehicle has lots of nice period features such as wing-mounted mirrors, rear grab handles, a capstan winch, and a new canvas top completes the picture. A towbar and electrics has been fitted to allow towing. The optional free wheeling hubs are present and makes this four wheel drive usefull both on the road as well as in terrain use. All of these features combine to make this classic Land Rover a complete and desirable example.

On the inside, the interior is largely original with a row of three deluxe seats and luxurious matting to the footwells. The only notable and desirable extra to the interior is the "Smith" heater, an expensive option in these days which provides the necessary warmth to the cabin. The rear is clean except for the spare tire so there is room to fit sidebenches to allow seating for an extra four passengers.

Out on the road, this vehicle gives a pleasing period driving experience, and turns heads wherever it goes. This piece of British heritage is a solid investment for the future - and it has enough possibilities to take the family on whatever adventure you end up on!
