Fiat 124 Spider BS1 -1971

In 1966 introduced Fiat the Pinininfarina-styled 124 Spider. Designed by Dutch designer Tom Tjaarda, who drew inspiration of his early designs for Pininfarina: the Chevrolet Corvette ‘Rondine’ and Ferrari 275 GTS. Developed in the early sixties to compete with the sporty Alfa Romeo’s. The Fiat 124 Spider with it’s by Ferrari engineer Lampredi designed 1608 cc double-overhead-cam engine and alumium crossflow head, generated 110 hp and proved to be a notorious opponent. With his low weight resulted in a atractive weight-to power-ratio of 9,5. Together with the 5 speed gearbox and 4 assisted power disc brakes, it proved to be technically advanced.

This Fiat 124 Spider is a sought after, early chrome bumper from the second series. Originally delivered in the sunny California and later shipped to the Netherlands where it came 22 years ago into possession of the first Dutch owner, a real passionate. He rebuilt the car technically among the original 1608 cc engine, along with: the 5-speed-transmission, clutch and the complete brake system. Were needed original or new NOS parts were used.

After our acquisition from him, it proved to be a unique example, preserved by the very good climate, and in exceptional original condition. Chassis and bottom in absolutely original and rust-free condition. Engine compartment and trunk all known weak points, prove to be in perfect condition with this example.

We continued the restauration whit the aim preserving it's originality. Therefore we had the car repainted (it appeared 70% in it’s first paint) in its original colorscheme “Rosso Vivio”. The original alloy Chromodora wheels received a sand blast treatment and got repainted silver.  Furthermore all the chrome such as bumpers, hupcaps, decals, mirrors and light units have been renewed. The interior was restored with the use of new black leather for the seats and also bench, and the dashboard was fitted with new fresh Italian Rosewood. Needless to say that the vast majority of efforts has gone into bringing the car back to its original condition in every detail. To emphasize that, we finished the wheels and spare with 5 new Michelin XAS quality tires conform original specifications.

The result: a sensationally beautifull Fiat 124 Sport Spider from the second series, delivered in the amazing colorscheme “Rosso Vivio” with black upholstery and canvas softtop. Beautiful appearance, uncomparable original in TOP conditionl!!

Now in our showroom.
